The Tamil Diaspora Almost a million Eelam Tamils fled to several parts of the world and they are identified as Tamil Diaspora. As they are a citizen of countries where they live and became loyal and contribute to their new home country. Due to horrifying experiences and facing Genocide back home, most of them won't be happy to identify themselves as Sri Lankans and some feel it's an insult if someone identifies them as Sri Lankans. Their proud identities became British Tamil, Swiss Tamil, American Tamil, Australian Tamil, Canadian Tamil, etc. Since Sri Lanka tried to erase their Tamil Identity, they are determined to keep it and be proud of the identity of Tamil in addition to being loyal to their present country of citizenship or residence. This post (a kind of poem - https://www.facebook.com/vel.velauthapillai/posts/10164285284125562 ) was about a short form of Eelam Tamil history. Even though the Sri Lankan government destroyed the Tamil hero's cemeteries in 2009, their memories will remain in people's minds for generations to come. The post simply put Eelam Tamil's history in short form says that before 1976, Tamils were hit hard by Sri Lankan regime, but they never fought back. They ran like rats and die in every pogrom since the British left. The older generation didn't know any solution so they decided to form a separate State Tamil Eelam. The youth (Tamil Tigers) fought back against Sri Lanka's genocide and built a great country. But that country got destroyed in 2009 including their cemeteries.
