 Tamil Genocide Remembrance - Ottawa - 2010

As there may be some misunderstanding about the first-year commemoration title in Ottawa.
This note can provide some details about it. The first anniversary of the Tamil Genocide Remembrance event held at Walter Baker and it was organized by the Ottawa Tamil activists.

= ஈழத் தமிழர்கள் பட்ட இந்த கொடிய துயரை நாம் நினைவுபடுத்திக் கொள்ளவும், எமது குழந்தைகள் வருங்கால சந்ததியினர் ஈழத்தமிழினம் அனுபவித்த இந்த மறக்கமுடியாத அவலங்களை என்றென்றும் மறக்காமல் இருக்கவும், உலகெங்கும் வாழும் தமிழர்களாகிய நாம் – மே மாதம் மாதம் மூன்றாம் வாரம் ஏதாவது ஒரு நாளில்   “தமிழின அழிப்பு நினைவு நாள்” (Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day ) எனப் பிரகடனப் படுத்தி அவர்களை நினைவுகூருதல் காலத்தின் தேவையும், கட்டாயமுமாகும். =

Even though the CTC chapter closed in Ottawa in 2011, it existed in Ottawa in 2010 time, it simply supported the above event. Later the Ottawa chapter was closed due to CTC took a different stand than recognizing Eelam Tamil's right to self-determination and Sri Lanka's genocide against Tamils. A text from CTC circulated that time as the following.

Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) is supporting the Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day, Candle Light Vigil organized by US Tamil Political Action Committee (USTPAC) on Saturday May 15th, 2010 in Washinton DC infront of White House. We urge Tamil Canadians to make every attempt to go for this important Vigil in the US Capitol that will send a strong message to International Community.
 
While we urge Tamil Canadians to make their own travel arragements to this important vigil/rally, we urge others who have
difficulties making their own travel arrangements to contact CTC at (416) 240 0078. Busses are being arranged for subsidized cost of $40 per person.
 
 
அமெரிக்க தமிழர் செயற் குழுவினால் மே மாதம் 15ம் நாள், வாஷிங்டன் DC இல் வெள்ளை மாளிகை முன்பாக 'தமிழ் நினைவு கூரும் நாள்'  நிகழ்வில் பங்குபற்றுவதற்காக  , டொராண்டோவிலிருந்து மக்களை அழைத்து செல்ல கனேடிய தமிழர் பேரவை

A Candle Light Vigil to honor 40,000 lives.
Where: Washington, DC, in front of the White House
When:  MAY 15, Saturday,  3:00 – 8:00pm

Let’s gather in our thousands, to mourn, to salute, to remember and preserve the memory of the 40,000+ Tamils killed by the Sri Lanka state. Let us mark the dark days when 300,000 Tamils were interned in concentration camps by the Sri Lanka government. Come light a candle, remind the world of the Tamil Genocide, demand Justice.

The Introduction of the United States H.Res.413 Resolution and the Tamil Diaspora The United States of America and Tamil diaspora relationship may be entering into a new phase with the introduction of the H.Res.413 resolution. H.Res 413 is calling for an international mechanism for crimes committed in Sri Lanka and also acknowledges the traditional Tamil homeland. This time, the Tamil diaspora should pay more attention to ensure Tamils will be treated as a partner, not just as a tool.
