Today marks the start of Tamil Heritage Month

 #tamilcanadianhistory #TamilEelamHistory Most of the Tamil Canadians (Eelam origin) came to Canada due to Sri Lanka's genocide against Tamils. Our Canadian government recognized Tamil Canadian's contribution to Canada. January is the month that has Pongal - Tamil festival (Similar to Thanksgiving - respecting the nature - Sun) and January is Tamil Heritage Month. Canada gave freedom and opportunities for Tamils who escaped from genocide and Tamils also have a responsibility to contribute and loyal to Canada.

Today marks the start of Tamil Heritage Month. It is a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions Canadians of Tamil descent have made to Canada, as well as their extraordinary language and culture.
Canada is the proud home of one of the world’s largest Tamil diasporas. Tamil Canadians have enriched, and continue to enrich, our national fabric through their many achievements in business, politics, and sports, to name a few areas. This month provides us an opportunity to show our appreciation for their invaluable contributions in building an even stronger and consciously more inclusive Canada.
During Tamil Heritage Month, I encourage Canadians across the country to learn more about this vibrant community. In these trying times, let’s also draw inspiration from the strength and resilience of the Tamil community and continue to develop a better understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion from coast to coast to coast.

The Introduction of the United States H.Res.413 Resolution and the Tamil Diaspora The United States of America and Tamil diaspora relationship may be entering into a new phase with the introduction of the H.Res.413 resolution. H.Res 413 is calling for an international mechanism for crimes committed in Sri Lanka and also acknowledges the traditional Tamil homeland. This time, the Tamil diaspora should pay more attention to ensure Tamils will be treated as a partner, not just as a tool. As everyone knows, a world relationship works when both sides offer something and receive benefits in return. From the Tamil's side, the demands are always consistent, that as recognition for the Tamil homeland or Tamil Eelam and justice for Sri Lanka's genocide against Tamils.
